Tidal and Timber Studio

Our vision is for the illustrative artworks to propel communication and emphasize education through art. Tidal and Timber Studio strives to “re”-connect communities with the natural environment and foster conservative efforts through means of artistic expression.

With every purchase made, a portion of our profit will be donated yearly to a local conservation group. Details on donations and the work these groups contribute to will be available here at year end.

Kirstin Hicks

Kirstin is an illustrator who draws much of her inspiration from the boreal forest. She is located in Northern Ontario, abutting the largest freshwater lake in the world. Having spent much of her professional career in natural resources management, her art often reflects the flora and fauna found in the boreal forest. She is located within the Robinson-Superior Treaty land and is honoured to be able to share these lands with the Ojibway and Metis peoples. She has a strong passion in education and sustainable stewardship of the land which is showcased through her art and communication.

Leah Fulton

Leah is an early career professional passionate about connecting people to place. Leah grew up in Kjipuktuk, Mi'kma'ki, (Halifax, Nova Scotia) on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, and comes from French-Canadian and Scottish ancestry. She now resides on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ peoples of the Coast Salish Nation (Victoria, British Columbia). Trained as a cartographer and a self-taught artist, Leah uses the emotional connection to the coastline and represents them through graphic illustrations that take focus on intertidal, subtidal, benthic species, and landscapes from the shore.
